I began my Mary Kay Career in March of 2018, after my Aunt, Senior National Sales Director Cyndee Gress, invited me to be her assistant at a Mary Kay Career Conference in Boston. Being a broke college student who was paying out-of-pocket for school and working 3 part-time jobs to make ends meet, the promise of food and $100 to run for coffee and take pictures at the conference was a no-brainer. I knew Cyndee was going to try to "convince" me to join Mary Kay, however, and that was a definite "No" for me. At 18 years old, I was so shy and introverted that I was always nervous to speak in my classes. I felt like I had zero time with my full work/school schedule, and my cystic acne was so bad that I had completely given up on taking care of my skin or wearing make-up. On top of that, I didn't want to sell anything to anyone!

So what business did I have trying to sell skincare and cosmetics? 

I laughed when Cyndee mentioned the idea of joining the company. But at the conference, I saw women, hundreds of women, who found success in their Mary Kay businesses. I saw women of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status find their confidence and joy in lipstick, blush, eye-shadow, and I remember thinking "If that can happen for them, then why not me?"

My initial goal was to make $500 a month to cover extra school expenses. But my excitement and vision grew when I made $336 profit in just my first week, working for 6 hours. Within a few short months, I was making a full-time income with my Mary Kay business, and I was finally able to quit my 3 part-time jobs to only focus on school and growing my business. Less than a year after signing my agreement, we debuted as a brand new unit. At 19 years old, I went from barely being able to afford groceries to driving a Mary Kay Career Car (of which MK covers your car payment and 85% of your car insurance!) and owning my own successful business. ​Since then, our unit has gone on to complete 4 unit clubs, ranging from the $350,000 level to the $800,000 prestige level! We have earned two Top Director Trips to Barcelona & Mallorca, Spain, and to Edinburgh, Scotland! I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would get to travel the world with my business!
